The Schug heritage goes beyond its four decades in Sonoma, reaching back over 100 years to when Walter Schug's father was in charge of producing Domaine Assmannshausen Hoellenberg Spaetburgunder. In 1961, Walter emigrated to California and in 1980, his love of Pinot Noir led him to establish his own label in Sonoma’s cool Carneros AVA. The Schug family put Mosel-native Johannes Scheid in charge of winemaking in 2019. Johannes continues to perfect the wines while upholding the family’s European-inspired respect for terroir and elegance.
